What is the secret to beauty and maintaining a youthful complexion? The answer to this is truly not as complex as one might believe. For those of who are yet to succumb and I’m afraid we are becoming fewer and fewer, please read on.

I recently had the opportunity of listening to a presentation by Geraldine Cox of her plight to save Cambodian orphans from their war torn past. Many of the children she cares for have suffered severe disfigurement at the hands of the cruelty of war and as innocent pawn’s forced into slavery for fear of starvation. With someone to love and care for them they have been transformed into thriving, happy children.

Having had first-hand experience with patients suffering from life threatening illnesses, I know that instilling faith in the knowledge that everything is already perfect is crucial to their acceptance of what is happening. By projecting calm loving thoughts and positive outcomes one can have a miraculous effect upon any individual. This unwavering faith can profoundly change one’s life path from fear of death and loss to bringing about a miraculous recovery in severely immuno-suppressed patients.

You may be forgiven for wondering what the heck all this has to do with beauty and maintaining a youthful complexion. Quite simply, one needs to care for themselves in the same loving way as you would care for another. And so this how your Natural Beauty Regime should start.

1. By caring about yourself as well as those around you. In other words take care in everything you say and do. If you exploit others for your own greed and satisfaction or act carelessly with your belongings then how do you think that reflects on your relationships? Mix six-teaspoon petroleum jelly, two-teaspoon glycerin and two-teaspoon lemon juice. Apply this moisturizing lotion at least twice a week if you have dry and flaky, arms and legs.

For cracked heals, massage the foot with coconut oil and keep the foot in warm water for some time. Wipe the water off the feet and apply a mixture of hibiscus flower (10), Henna (1 handful) and juice of half a lemon. When dry wash it off.

To reduce puffiness of your eyes, grate a potato; tie in a cloth and place the cloth over your eyes for about 15 minutes.

Have you ever thought how a small bottle with nothing but clean water in it can rid you of your nightmares? You can use herbal flower water too, to spray your armpits with. Add a few drops of cologne to the water, if you like, in the spray bottle. Earlier in the day, use a spray deo immediately after a bath on semi-damp skin. Water makes a better spray than strong cologne because some cosmetics block the natural and necessary process of perspiration. Spray twice or thrice a day.

Mix equal quantity of almond, rose water, glycerine and lemon juice. Apply on face and keep overnight. Wash off in the morning, first with warm water and then with cold water, to give a glowing effect to your face.

To get rid of your pimple scars from the face apply tomato pulp every day and wash off after an hour.

Dry and cracking hands and feet are common in colder months. To treat hands, reduce the frequency of hand washing (which saps moisture from skin) and apply a Hand Cream. For feet, apply an antibiotic ointment, while feet are still damp after shower.

Apply a water-based moisturizer while your skin is still damp to seal in moisture before it’s lost. For dryer skin, use a heavier cream whereas for oilier skin, use a light lotion.

When you exfoliate, pay special attention to oilier areas such as the chin, nose and forehead. A gel mask suits combination skin. Or try using two different masks: a clay mask for the oil-prone nose, chin and forehead, and a cream mask for dry areas, such as the cheeks.
